Earned Income Tax
Aldan Residents and Business Owners:
Effective January 1, 2025, Aldan Borough enacted an earned income tax (EIT) of 1% for residents of Aldan Borough and non-residents who commute to work in Aldan Borough. The EIT is levied on earned income and net profits, which includes wages, salaries, and commissions, but not social security, pensions, dividends or interest. Individuals who work full time in Philadelphia are exempt since they pay the city wage tax.
Your employer should now be withholding the tax from your pay. However, you should check your pay stub and/or ask your employer to check for you. If you are self-employed or if you must report quarterly, payroll withholding returns and payments are due within 30 days after the close of each calendar quarter or April 30, 2025 for the first quarter of this year.
If you are required to do so, please make your payment by the quarterly due date to avoid statutory penalty, interest and Act 192 costs. If you have never filed taxes with Keystone, you will need to set up an account. Contact them online at KeystoneCollects.com/contact or call (724) 978-0300 Monday through Friday between 8am - 4pm.
Finally, please note: Pennsylvania law requires residents with earned income or net profits to file a 2025 local earned income tax return online or by mail on or before April 15, 2026.
